Chapter 92
The War of Rumi
The seventh enclave is called The Rod of Moses. It is dedicated to the Nawab of Bhopal and came out in 1936. You are standing here now.
The sub-title is ‘a declaration of war against the present age’. It comprises of five thematic sections and a set of twenty monologues. The thematic sections redefine religion, education, woman, aesthetics and politics.
Islam and Muslim
League of Nations has its headquarters at Geneva. It has failed its purpose, which was to prevent further wars after the Great European War (1914-1918).
Makkah sends a message to Geneva. It says, “Should there be League of Nations or a league of the humankind?”
Education
A nation doesn’t need weapons if the selfhood of its youth is stronger than steel.
Woman
The issue of women’s rights cannot be treated in isolation from the life and times of a society.
Literature and Art
A new world appears in the dream of those whose heart is awake. They present it as an ideal accessible to the entire society. The ideal becomes reality.
Politics
Slavery and blind imitation plague the East. Western democracy has become a monster elsewhere.
The fate of the planet may change for better if Tehran becomes Geneva of the East.
Unfortunately on each of these topics, the prevalent wisdom holds the opposite view and is backed not only by the universities and academies of the West but also by its guns and bombs. Recognizing this might show you that you have just stepped into the last zone of the Garden.
Marker of the Beginning
Of the Wisdom of Civilization
